It is believed that Deptford is named after a small town in England. The town's population exploded after WWII and today nearly 27000 people call Deptford home. Deptford has many sections, one of which is Oak Valley. Oak valley is a census-designated area within Deptford and is home to the township Municipal Court. It has many cape-cod style homes and is modern yet homey. The Deptford Mall that was built in 1975 is possibly the biggest attraction of the town. It is the 7th largest mall in the state of NJ. Other major routes in the vicinity include NJ Turnpike, I-295 and County Routes 45 and 55.
