The city of Perth Amboy in MiddleSex County is home to nearly 48,000 people. It is often referred to as the \'City of the Bay\' as it lies on Raritan Bay. An ex-governor\'s house along the bay is now a museum and is open to public. The building also houses an art gallery. Perth Amboy also has a marina and a yatch club. Perth Amboy is literally on the NJ-NY borderline. State Street, Smith Street and Hall Avenue are some of the major downtown roads in Perth Amboy. Hall Avenue houses Firehouse Plaza which is a huge strip mall. Ironically, just recently, Perth Amboy was voted the golf capital by a magazine even though it has no golf clubs. Perth Amboy is well-served by many major routes. I-95 (NJ Turnpike), US Rt 9 (Garden State Parkway) and Routes 35, 440, 611, 616, 624, 653, 656 and 658 all traverse the city.
