West of West Paterson, Totowa has 10,000 people and is known for its excellent police department. The Municipal Court Building houses the Municipal Court. The Totowa Welfare Office is located in this building too. The uniqueness of this organization is that it offers short-term help to Totowa residents in distress. The person may be married or single, but if he is any kind of financial or medical distress, he can contact this organization and get succor. It was a fine group of residents who believed in reaching out to each other in times of difficulty because of whom this organization came into existence. The town also has an excellent public library called the 'Dwight Eisenhower Library'. This library has tons of books on every subject under the sun and also rents out DVDs and video cassettes. The children's section has computers for kids, where they can play or browse and story-books and games for kids. The library also organizes story-telling groups and kids playgroups.
