About the area

It is believed that this town of 2800 people got it's name from the Alloway Lake in the region. The town is a quiet picturesque town with many lakes and ponds. Sycamore Lake, Alloway Lake, Elkinton Mill Pond and Paradise Lakes are all within a 1.5 radius from the Municipal Court. The Alloway Town Recreation Complex can be seen from the Court Complex. It is said that Horace Vanleer of Alloway was the first one to own an automobile in Salem County. Major Routes in the vicinity are Rt 647, Rt 49, Rt 623, Rt 581 and US Rt 40.
