This town of 5800 people gets it's name from the Lopatcong creek that flows through the region. The word Lopatcong is believed to be a Native Indian word that means 'Winter water place for deer'. The town is rural and picturesque. The town is just a few miles away from the NJ-Pennsylvania border. Quite a few of the town residents work in Pennsylvania. The township was called Phillipsburg before it got it's present name. That is why the postal address for the Court says that the Court is located in Phillipsburg. |
