Nestled in the southermost tip of Warren county, this town houses nearly 3500 residents. The court is in the town of Phillpsburg, which also has 3 other courts - Lopatcong Municipal Court, Harmony Town Municipal Court and Phillipsburg Town Municipal Court. The Pohatcong History & Heritage Society in the Pohatcong Township reveals that the earliest settlers in the region were native Indians who settled near source of water. Europeans displaced the Indian settlers in 1700s. With them came the era of industries. The museum organizes a 'drive through the town' program every so many months. This conducted tour takes one to all the historic places in Pohatcong. The Borough of Alpha (yes, the correct name) is carved out of the northern tip of this township, and most of I-78 is really in that territory.
