The Lincoln Historic site, in the town of Lincoln, consists of approximately 17 structures and outbuildings which are examples of the Territorial style of adobe architecture in the American Southwest. Two of the buildings are museums. The Anderson-Freeman Museum has historical exhibits representative of the time period from American Indian prehistory to the Lincoln County War. The Old Lincoln County Courthouse has exhibits that tell the story of the Lincoln County War and the use of the building as a store, residence, Masonic Lodge, courthouse and jail. The Fort Stanton Historic site along the Bonito river served as a military garrison, as the first tuberculosis hospital in the state and as an internment camp for German seaman during World War II. It consists of almost 53 buildings.
