| About the area |
This area is the homeland of Navaho, Apache, Ute, Hopi and other Indian nations. The Totah Festival held in August features the work of artists of these Native American people. Visitors to the festival get to enjoy the Contest Pow Wow, the Navajo rug auction and a artist demonstrations. In August Farmington plays host to the Connie Mack World Series with amateur baseball teams consisting of players 16 to 18 years of age from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. This event is held at Ricketts park. Animas River walk is a trail along the Animas River from Berg Park on the West to Animas Park on the East. The area is suitable for hiking, biking, running, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, photography, fishing, and bird watching. The Sun Ray Park and Casino features live horse racing and simulcast theater in addition to gambling at their video machines and slots. Farmington also has a municipal airport.
