Just to the West of Cuba lie the Mesa de Cuba badlands, Here you find lots of strange rock formations, some seemingly balanced on a point. The badlands are part of the San Juan Basin Badlands Recreation area in which are located Mesa Chijuilla, Mesa Penistaja, Ceja Pelón, and Cejita Blanca. The scenery here looks like something on the moon and there are are plenty examples of petrified wood as well as some very old trees. This also the place to see steep walled box canyons separated by intricately sculpted ridges. St.Francis of Assisi park in the village has slides, swings, a shaded picnic area, climbing structures,
a sand dune, softball fields and basketball hoops besides its dirt path loop just right for walking or jogging. |
