The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is known as "Very Large Array" The city was named for Mary Magdalene because legend says that in the 1500's, Spanish soldiers saw her face on the mountain! Great arts center and on the walking tour, you will relive history. You can get a taste for the history of this city by visiting the Box Car museum where you can see old photographs and objects from frontier life in this area and the Salome General store which opened shop at the beginning of the 20th century. The old Santa Fe Railroad Station building has been restored and now houses the city's village hall, government offices and library. |
