Estancia is the County Seat. The name translates as "place of rest". There are parks, library, public pool and Hope Medical Center. This is the city where the last legal hanging in New Mexico took place around 1923 and lies in Estancia valley created by dust and runoff and organic sediment settling in the Lake Estancia for thousands of years. |
