Well, Homer in the county is named after a Greek. Virgil here is named after a Roman. Maybe that's progress. So how come Greek Peak ski resort is here instead of Homer? They do have plenty of farming here.
Located in the southern part of Cortland County, Virgil was settled in 1792, and named for the Roman poet. Still largely rural & agricultural, Virgil maintains many areas for conservation, as well as private forests. Hiking & biking trails are open on state land. And Skyline Raceway welcomes stock car racers. |
