A maple grove within the town limits, where the early settlers gathered maple sugar, gave the hamlet its name, Sugar Hill. It also gave its name to the Sugar Hill State Forest. Located between Seneca Lake & Keuka Lake, & part of the 6 Nations Trail System (for horse & snowmobiles), the Forest offers opportunities for hiking, camping, archery & hunting.
