| About the area |
Though named after founder Eleazer Lindsley (a military man of some note), the "s" was dropped in a clerical error before 1850. The town includes rolling hills, forests & the Tioga River, as well as a cemetery near the tracks of the NY Central railroad. Located on Rte 15, and bordering Pennsylvania, This was the first settlement in Steuben County, 1790. Town formed in the early middle 1800s and includes the hamlets of East Lindley, Laurenceville, Lindley & Presho.
