About the area
A home-sick employee of the Erie Railroad named it for his native Savona in Italy. Located at the intersections of Rts 226, 415 & I-86, the Village of Savona was called \"Mud Creek\" in the 1800\'s; village incorporated in 1883, within the town of Bath. Settled next to the Cohocton Creek, where Mud Creek joins it.
