Glen Spey and Lumberland are nearby each other and there are a little over 1000 people that live there. The towns are located in the Catskills. This area is known for its high tourism rate. This is because of the resort places that were once very popular in the 1950's and 1960's. Many people from NYC would bring there families and stay for the summer. It was a way of getting out the city and being able to learn about rural areas. These resorts provided all kinds of activities such as dancing lessons, swimming, craft workshops, hiking and many others. Although many people have stopped coming to the resorts, there are still others who make them an annual vacation. In the surrounding areas you will find many camps where people send their kids for the summer. These camps are luxury places where kids learn sailing, swimming, crafts, tennis, and many other activities. Although the attendance to these resorts has tapered many people still remember the Catskills as a place for vacation. Even during the fall season you can find tourists enjoying the fall foliage and the beautiful landscape.
