Mamakating is a small town in Sullivan County. The area has over 11,000 people that live there. The village of Wurtsboro has a street fair, Winterfest, and 4th of July events each year. Their website shows pictures of all the events and Winterfest shows ice sculptures and horse drawn carriages. The community is renovating infrastructure. They have been working on putting new street lights in, taking down falling buildings, and repaving roads. This process has been one that they have been working on for several years but in the last six months they have received more help. This way it's safer. They have also expanded businesses and local shops and eateries. Many new places have opened up and people are enjoying their hard work. Wurtsboro airport is not too busy. Mamakating is a very large area comprising nearly 100 square miles.
