Comments
Ossining Village and Briarcliff Manor have their own separate village courts, and you should refer to them individually. *According to the Town Court website, the address of the Town Court is 86-88 Spring Street. However, the Village Court has an address of 88 Spring Street, so it is assumed that The Town Court and Village Court are in the same building.
About the area
The Town of Ossining contains the villages of Ossining (originally Sing Sing) and part of Briarcliff Manor. Originally called the Village of Sing Sing when incorporated in 1813, the name was changed to Ossining in 1801 so that goods made in the village and town would not be confused with those from the famous maximum security prison (Sing Sing) located within its limits. The term "sent up the river" refers to being sent up the Hudson River to Sing Sing Prison, which sits on its banks 30 miles north of NYC. Sing Sing is the second most famous prison in the US, next to Alcatraz.
