About the area |
The former US President Andrew Jackson was honored by the people of Jackson County when they named their territory after this honest man, who served his Country during the War of 1812 in the field and also with his talent behind a desk when he was elected back in the 1820ôs. About 422 square miles constitute the territory of this friendly community, divided into 12 townships plus 2 major cities (Jackson, Wellston), 2 unincorporated communities (Byer, Wainwright), and finally 2 villages (Coalton, Oak Hill). |
