The Battle of Matamoras took place back in the 1840's in this land of less than 1 square mile territory. This event, in which Americans and Mexicans faced each other during the conflict over Texas secession, gave name to this territory also called New Matamoras since the 1860´s. This Ohio River son is home of more than 950 inhabitants, they fight day after day poverty and the lack of employment in this region to support their love ones. |
