Fort Washita in Kenefic is a historic site. Built in 1842 by the United States soldiers was actually a military post. The soldiers had to protect the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians. Not much damage is noticed in the Fort and even today you can see some artifacts from war time. What was built casually stands as a National landmark today. There are quite a few historic sites here and that way Kenefic is terrific! |
