About the area |
Sandy was a rest stop (no McDonald's then) on the Barlow Road as people went west to Oregon City. Sandy residents were an important part of the early logging industry and of supplying lumber throughout Clackamas County. Although pioneers stopped in the area in the middle of the 19th century; the founding of a post office in Sandy around the latter part of the 19th century was the real start of the city. Anglers will find a day of fun at the Rainbow Trout farm, with its regularly stocked waters. The staff here will do everything for you except catch the fish and cook it. Barbecue sites are provided so that you can have a picnic in the parklike setting.
