About the area |
Sometime between the early 1830's and the end of the nineteenth century the Olde Towne area of St. Helens was settled. The city's economy was driven by logging, lumber mills, ship-building, river trade, quarries, and farms. At first most employment was related to forest products; however as timed passed more and more residents began commuting to the Portland area for work. |
