Bend is one of the larger cities in Oregon with a population of over 82,000 and started out as a lumber settlement. The triple waterfalls of the Deschutes River are a dream come true for kayakers and rafters. Nearby Mt. Bachelor's with its ten alpine lifts is a skiers and snowboarders paradise. The facility particularly caters to snowboarders with pipes a priority. In addition there are over 50 kilometers of trails on Mt. Bachelor
for cross country skiing. Snowmobilers can choose from over 500 miles of groomed trails in the Deschutes National Forest. For just plain fun there is even room for snowtubing, snowshoeing and sled dog rides. What was once site a used for lumber mills is now the Old Mill District; which has upscale shopping, trendy restaurants and an outdoor amphitheater which is used for summer concerts.
