With Billy Chinook, Suttle, and Blue lakes and Ochoco, Haystack and Prineville reservoirs nearby the residents of Redmond can swim and fish for summer steelhead and rainbow trout. Redmond is also close to Mt. Bachelor, which offers several skiing areas for alpine and cross country skiers. Just north of Redmond lies Smith Rock State Park where spires and craggy palisades present many venues for rock climbing enthusiasts. Redmond operates Roberts Field, the region's only commercial airline service airport.
