About the area |
Butte Falls is Jackson County's smallest town; but that doesn't stop it from having a big problem. In 2007 the town experienced outbreaks of racism by white supremacists. Swastikas appeared carved in benches and fights broke out between whites and Hispanics. This problem had even invaded the High school; however the school administration has taken steps to fight the problem. All is not bad in this town ; it boasts two museums. The Railroad Museum at Butte Falls exhibits include a box car, a flat car, a hopper car and four cabooses. The townâs waterfall is one of the town's landmarks and can be seen from a viewing deck built for that purpose. The townâs establishment in the early 1900âs came about with the establishment of a water-powered saw mill set at the falls. |
