| About the area |
In 2009 the Central Point Police Department was honored by receipt of the "Excellence in Integrity" Award; becoming the first department in the nation to receive this award. Central Point, so named because it is located roughly in the center of the Rogue Valley, at one time had only seven dwelling houses, a store, saloon, feed and livery barn, blacksmith shop, wagon shop, and a school house. In the second half of the 19th century two brothers settled in the area and erected a store building and living quarters, establishing the city. Central Point is home to the world’s oldest and largest hearing dog facility,
