About the area |
Plenty of room in Chiloquin with the area being roughly 540 square miles and just about 3800 people residing here. Before Euro-Americans came to the area Basin, four of the six bands of the Klamath Tribes lived in the Chiloquin area in villages along the Klamath Marsh, on the banks of Agency Lake, by the Williamson river. In the first quarter of the 19th century, the first settlers to come to the area were mountain men and fur trappers. Located west of Chiloquin, lies Agency lake where those who love observing wild life will get a chance to see waterfowl, otter, mink, deer and bald eagles. There is also a Fishery here loaded with trophy redband trout for the ardent fisherman. |
