Florence lies across the Siuslaw river from the Oregon Dunes National Recreational area. Wandering along the Siuslaw river in Historic Old Town Florence you can enjoy watching the artisans at work or dance to live music in the evening. The city boasts two golf courses; Sands Pine Golf links, which offers over 700 yards of golf (okay, maybe that's 7000, and you can skip a few of them if you cheat a little), and Ocean Dune Golf links, which offers 18 challenging holes, as well as a municipal airport. The airport is open to the public, but with a runway just over 2900 feet in length, can not handle any large aircraft. Except maybe a really big helicopter. Or an alien spaceship. Or perhaps a blimp/zeppelin? |
