Oakridge went through 2 name changes till it got to its present name. With hundreds of miles of single track trails in the forests surrounding the city; Oakridge might well be called the Mountain Biking Capital of the Northwest. Oakridge has been chosen as one of six International Mountain Biking Association Ride Center locations in the U.S. Three days of riding, bike and beer sampling and camping along the Middle Fork of the Willamette River describe Mountain Bike Oregon which occurs every year, in July and August . The annual Tree Planting festival, started in the 1950's, features the planting of thousands of Douglas Fir seedlings as well as a parade, talent and quilt shows. |
