About the area |
Siletz, located on the Siletz River, is a great place for fishermen. The city is a johnny-come-lately having been incorporated in the 1940's. Lots of Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock around. There's a great skatepark here; where enthusiasts, those who are young anyway, can roll and jump to their heart's content. The Nesika Illahee Pow Wow, held the second weekend of August, has native crafts, food and dancing competitions. If you attend; you can wander through teepees and purchase beads, blankets, clothing and other crafts. The BBQ salmon on cedar planks cooked over an open fire pit is delicious; try some. |
