About the area |
Reflective of Vale's and Oregon's history over 30 murals have been painted on buildings throughout the town and in metal. These murals were created through the efforts of the Vale Heritage Relections Mural society. The first such mural was painted in the early 1990's on the wall of the Malheur Drug store; since its owners had been instrumental in this project. In the 1800's, the Stone House Museum was used as a wayside inn and pony express station and was the first permanent building in Malheur County. The Stone House has been restored and is a museum displaying period relics and photos, along with iexhibits about the Oregon Trail. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. |
