| About the area |
Salem has many public parks. Most likely the largest of these is the over 90 acre Bush's Pasture Park and botanical garden. The annual Salem Art Fair & Festival, which has been going on for for over 50 years is held here each July. There are 200 booths with artist offerings, a diverse range of performing arts, music stages and hands-on arts activities for adults and children. To make sure you don't go hungry while attending this event there are many food booths. The Bush House representative of the Victorian Italianate style of architecture is in this park. It was built by Asahel Bush II, a publisher and banker, in the late 1870's. All of the rooms open to the public are filled with choice furnishings many of which along with the wall decor are original to the house. |
