About the area

Early settlement in the area of Mt Angel took place from the 1850's to the 1880's. This led to the establishment of a school district, railroad station, church, and post office. Although the town was originally known as Frankfort. Around that time Benedictine Monks from Switzerland and established the Mount Angel Abbey. The population of Mt. Angel is now just under 4000. Ebner County park is the site of Softball tournaments.
