Hermiston, a city of a little over 15,000 residents sits about 6 miles from the border with Washington State and the Columbia river. The Hermiston Municipal airport, owned by the city, is located near the County court and with its paved runway of 4500 feet; provides access by air to the court as well as to the city of Hermiston. The Farm City Pro Rodeo, held together with the Umatilla County Fair, was first held in 1988. The County fair made its debut in 1912. This event runs for five days in August and attracts the premier cowboys, cowgirls, and clowns. There's plenty of big name entertainment each day, as well as local exhibits of produce and animals. |
