About the area
Named for General Nathanael Greene (did they call him Nate?) and founded in 1796, this bucolic county is quintessential Norman Rockwell, proud of its rich heritage and small-town charm. Visitors delight in numerous family events and fairs, which celebrate everything from kissing bridges to sheep and fiber and bituminous coal. Also, it is said to have rained somewhere in the Greene County every July 29th for hundreds of years. Less than 40K people in the county, so it is not too crowded.
