Jefferson County is the nest of this borough (county seat) home of more than 4200 people, settled back in the late 18th century, and finally incorporated in the early 1830s. Coming to this territory elevated 1270 feet above sea level could be quite an experience because the panorama on this land still whispers stories about the lumber industry´s glorious times and the Twyford Motor Car Company operating days; but those days are gone, leaving this community facing the reality of 1/4 of the population submitted under a very tough financial situation which does not seem to look any better in the next few years, due the lack of investments and work sources.
