Home of more than 8000 residents, Shamokin community is the proud holder of the zip code 17872 and its name comes from a Saponi Algonquian expression which means "place of the horn". Polish, German, and Dutch ancestries witnessed the incorporation of this land into Northumberland map back in the 1950's with a land area of less than 1 square mile of territory.
