The refreshing and clear waters of the Monongahela River irrigate this blessed municipality of Washington County previously known as the "Moon Valley land". Two theories are out there about the origin of the name of this community, one says that it was named after King Charles II of Spain and the other says that this borough was named after a city in Belgium. This community is home of more than 4800 inhabitants, settled and incorporated back in the late 19th century with a bit less than 1 square mile of territory. |
