About the area
Tunkahannock borough, home of the Procter & Gamble headquarter, is the county seat of Wyoming County. This community, neighbor of Luzerne, Sullivan, Bradford, Susquehanna, and Lackawanna Counties, was named after a derivation from an Indian term for "large meadow". Tunkhannock New Age-Examiner is one of the voices of this land whispering to its readers about the events, progress, and difficulties faced by this territory home of more than 28000 people. Some of the "children" of this county are Braintrim, Clinton, North Branch, Nicholson, and Monroe Townships, mostly served by Tunkhannock Area School District and Lackawanna Trail School District.
