| About the area |
Nicholas Mosby Dawson served his country back in the Texas Revolution, and he was honored by the people of this community when they named their land after him. This land is served by Lamesa as its county seat and it is home of the Sulphur Springs Draw, which attracts thousands of visitors every year and holds silent whisper of the wisdom of the Indians who formerly inhabited this corner of Texas. Founded in the 1870s, this "dry" land with a total extension of more than 900 square miles has a population density of more than 15 people per square mile. |
