This community welcomed its first settlers back in the 1840s and witnessed the construction of the Rogers Hotel which opened the door for visitors and neighbors to admire the new "castle" that just arrived to this humble territory. It was not till the late 1870s, when the railroad came to Waxahachie and since then, the architecture and culture of this land change 180 degrees. Once this city became the county seat of Ellis, all its inhabitants were prepared for the responsibility of representing their county and nowadays the birthplace of Byron Nelson would take your breathe away with its multiple glamorous homes, precious government facilities, and outstanding recreational areas.
