Named after William Whitewright, a New York businessman; this land witness the arrival of its first settlers coming from Kentucky back in the early 19th century. This municipality incorporated in the 1880s has approximately 1750 inhabitants residing in this community elevated more than 750 feet above sea level and a total extension of 2 square miles. Homeland of the Whitewright Historical Museum and the Fiddle Fest during May, this land of American, English, German, and Irish ancestries is simply unique. With a population density of 850 people per square mile, Whitewright shares border lines with Tom Bean, Trenton, Savoy, Bells, Ector, Westminster, Van Alstyne, and Leonard. |
