About the area
Named for George C. Kimbell, this county is served by Junction City as its county seat with an estimated population of 2600 inhabitants. Nested between Menard, Mason, Gillespie, Kerr, Edwards, and Sutton Counties; this land welcomed its first settlers before the 1700s when Comanche, Kiowa, Kiowa Apache, and Lipan Apache tribes lived in this territory extended from the Llano River to the Colorado River. Served by the Junction Independent School District, this portion of Texas is also attended by the staff of the Mason Independent School District.
