This city in Leon County was named after Henry J. Jewett, judge. With an estimated population of 900 inhabitants, this municipality is the proud owner of the Guiness World Record for the "Longest Egg Throw" achieved back in 1992. This community home of the Fall Frolic Festival during October is nested between the lands of Buffalo, Marquez, Centerville, Personville, Leona, Teague, Butler, and Normangee. Served by Limestone Medical Center and East Texas Medical Center, this land produces cotton, corn, and a wide variety of truck crops. |
