Established in the 1850s, this community with an estimated population of more than 2300 inhabitants was named for Michel Branamour Menard (founder of Galveston, TX). Connected by US Highway 83, US Highway 190, and State Highway 29 has a total area of a bit less than 905 square miles of extension sharing borders with Concho, McCulloch, Mason, Kimble, and Schleicher Counties. Father of Hext, Menard, and Fort McKavett; this land has a median household income of $24750 and a per capita income of $16000.
