Named for W. S. Sterling (an early settler in the area), this community of more than 1300 inhabitants is served by US Highway 87, State Highway 158, and State Highway 163. Founded in the 1890s, this traditional land of more than 920 square miles of extension is adjacent to Mitchell, Coke, Tom Green, Reagan, Glasscock, and Howard Counties.
