Condsidered an "Oasis" in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex area. At one time there were pelicans flying the skies, hence the name, but nowadays it will be hard to come by any. The town is about 2000 strong sitting right off the water of Eagle Mountain Lake; water activities are something to take into mind while visiting, if the weather permits.
