About the area |
Hyrum reservoir lies in the Southeast corner of town and it forms the border of Hyrum State park populated by willow, box elder and maple trees. The park is a natural habitat for waterfowl and wildlife. Around the Spring of 1860 twenty families settled at a spring located about one mile from present day Hyrum. Due to a lack of water that first summer; the settlement was moved to the present site of Hyrum. At the annual Hyrum City Royalty pageant, held in March, five girls are selected to represent the city throughout the year at various city events and parades. The city has been selected, by the Arbor Day foundation, as a Tree City USA. The city has several recreational sites including the soccer complex and a civic center. |
