About the area |
As you walk through the city of Wellsville you get the feeling of its history from its first settlement around 1856 by a group of families at a place they called Maughanâs Fort. There was an abundance of water at this location and soon the settlement had a grist mill, saw mill, brickyard, dairies, co-op, tannery, granaries, ice house, slaughter house and lush crops. Ten years after it was settled and three years after it had been surveyed and laid out Wellsville was incorporated. The annual Founders Day celebration includes a sham battle and music in the park. Recreational facilities can be found at the park at Wellsville Dam, Black Willow park, Tabernacle park and at the rodeo grounds. |
Judges |
Hon. Terry Moore can also be found serving in the Smithfield Justice Court. |
